| Intergenerational Portraits: A Collab with The Legacy Project

| Every older person in your community has a story worth telling—stories of resilience, transformation, adventure, and wisdom earned over decades of living. Aging in America News and The Legacy Project are looking for young writers (17-25 years old) to sit down with older adults in their community and capture their lives through written profiles.

This is your chance to

  • Hone your interviewing and storytelling skills
  • Bridge generations through meaningful conversation
  • Preserve local history and lived experience
  • Build your portfolio with compelling human interest pieces

What We’re Looking For

Thoughtful profiles (800-1200 words + 3-5 photos) that go beyond basic biography to reveal what makes your subject unique—their passions, pivotal moments, hard-won lessons, and the experiences that shaped who they are. No experience necessary—just curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to listening. Here’s a sample profile.

Five selected profiles will be featured in Aging in America News. Rate: $250.

Deadline: December 19, 2025 January 30, 2026

Submit your work here. (We’ll check with you before we publish.)
